In Depth:
We have all enjoyed the break in the humidity levels, but that will start changing today. More moisture will push across the area today and tonight from south to north. Our muggy meter is based on the dew point temperatures which have been in the upper 40s and low 50s the last few days but will be in the upper 60s and low 70s by Friday. That means muggy conditions heading into the holiday weekend.
Highs will push back to the upper 80s and low 90s this afternoon. One sidenote, you'll notice on the chart below that today is the 10 year anniversary of the hottest day on record for Nashville when the mercury rose to 109 degrees.
Here's the current forecast for Independence Day weekend. Key points: Hot, humid with scattered showers and thunderstorms.
