NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Titans hit the field for Friday practice in "shells" (Helmets, no pads), this after spending the previous day practicing in full pads. The Titans will play their team scrimmage tomorrow night at Nissan Stadium so Friday's practice was more like a walk through.
The most competitive part of the practice occurred towards the end with a two minute drill. The first team offense struggled to move the ball against the first team defense. The second team offense fared much better as they moved the ball into field goal range, but kicker Austin Bernard missed his field goal attempt wide right. (Bernard is filling in for Ryan Succop who's still on the Titans PUP list.)
On the injury front, Titans wide receiver Corey Davis left practice early. However, Head Coach Mike Vrabel said Davis "should be fine" and added Davis was basically given a "maintenance day."
Several Titans players said after practice, they are looking forward to Saturday's scrimmage and getting an opportunity to play in front of the fans. Vrabel offered some more details about the scrimmage, saying there won't be any kickoffs, and there also won't be any full tackling to the ground.
The Titans will play their first preseason game next Thursday night in Philadelphia against the Eagles.
