NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Vanderbilt Commodores will open up the 2024 and 2025 football season against Virginia Tech.
The 2024 season opener will be played on August 31 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville and the 2025 opener is scheduled for August 30 in Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Virginia.
This will be the team's sixth appearance at Nissan Stadium. The 2024 game marks the tenth time the two universities faced-off, the first being in 1989. The Hokies leads the series at 6 to 3.
On Tuesday, the university also announced future season openers against Austin Peay State University in 2026 and Eastern Kentucky in 2027. These games will both be played at Vanderbilt Stadium.
