NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The first day of fall practice at Vanderbilt was capped by the release of the SEC’s new 10-game, conference-only schedule. The Commodores’ slate is highlighted by a week two opportunity to host defending national champion LSU.

The Oct. 3 contest will be the home opener for Vandy after the delayed start to the season caused by the pandemic. It will be the first of five home games, including a Thanksgiving weekend showdown with in-state rival Tennessee. The others will be Oct. 10 against South Carolina, Oct. 31 vs. Ole Miss and Nov. 21 against Florida.

The season will begin Sept. 26 as Vanderbilt travels to College Station to meet Texas A&M. They will also play at Missouri, Mississippi State, Kentucky and finish the season at Georgia on Dec. 5.

The Commodores are entering year seven under head coach Derek Mason, but are coming off a disappointing 3-9 campaign in 2019.
