NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Titans have announced they will not hold practice on Thursday, the day after the NBA postponed first round games after the Milwuakee Bucks refused to play against the Orlando Magic, citing racial injustice following the shooting of Jacob Blake.
The Titans issued a short statement on the cancellation: "After conversations this morning, the team has decided to cancel today’s practice. Zoom interviews with Vrabel and players will happen at time later today."
Several other NFL teams have also canceled practice today, including the New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Washington Football Team, and the Green Bay Packers. The Detroit Lions were the first NFL team to cancel a practice since the shooting of Jacob Blake on Tuesday.
Blake was shot by police officers, apparently in the back, on Sunday as he leaned into his SUV with three of his children seated inside.
The WNBA also canceled games all their games Wednesday, and a few games were canceled across other leagues including Major League Baseball. One league that did not see any cancellations was the NHL, whose playoffs continue as well.
While some MLS games weren't played, Nashville SC played their regularly scheduled game last night, but players kneeled on the field before the game began.
