NASHVILLE, Tenn. – C.O. Brocato, a longtime scout for the Tennessee Titans, has died after a battle with cancer, the organization said. He was 85.

Jim Wyatt, senior writer and editor for TitansOnline, said Brocato died Tuesday after a bout with cancer. He spent 40 seasons with the Oilers/Titans franchise.

“It is a sad day for our organization, as we have lost a true icon and legend in C.O. Brocato,’’ Titans Executive Vice President and General Manager Ruston Webster said in a statement online.

The organization announced back in April that the draft room at Saint Thomas Sports Park had been named the “C.O. Brocato Draft Room” in his honor.

Funeral arrangements were said to be pending.
