NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Tennessee Tech men's tennis team has been the school's most consistently successful athletics program over the last several years. It’s what could have been for the Golden Eagles in 2020 that is the subject of this Curtain Call.
After a tough road trip against national tennis powers to start the season, Tennessee Tech had won five of its last six matches. That run included a 7-0 shutout of a previously unbeaten Lipscomb team right before the season was canceled due to the spread of the Coronavirus.
Led by sophomores Rafael Tosetto and Carlos Vicente, the Golden Eagles were looking for a fifth straight OVC title this spring. Freshman Evzen Hollis also proved to be a valuable addition to the lineup throughout the early season to further strengthen their hopes of returning to the NCAA Tournament.
Sadly, TTU never got that chance.
Instead, the Golden Eagles get this Curtain Call and motivation for next year.
