MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — After finishing strong for the first Conference USA title in program history last spring, Middle Tennessee was poised for a big year in 2020. But not even the Blue Raiders were prepared for the start they would get off to, or the abrupt end to a season worthy of a Curtain Call.
Jimmy Borendame's team started 6-0 for just the third time in 45 years, highlighted by a win at Arkansas to capture the Razorback Invitational title.
Junior Chris Edge went 3-0 that weekend to become the first Conference USA Athlete of the Week this tennis season. Edge went 11-4 in singles overall, and also won eight doubles matches. Senior Tom Moonan anchored the no. 1 singles position for a team that also took down Michigan State, Indiana and Auburn on the way to a 13-5 start.
Unfortunately there was no return trip to the NCAA Tournament this year, but there is a Curtain Call for another great season.
