Curtain Call: Lebanon Lady Devilettes

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Lebanon Girls Basketball team’s slogan for this year was “unfinished business”. It’s a slogan that took on extra meaning as the season played out.

Head coach Corey Barrett's father lost his battle with cancer right before the region tournament began. Then days later their community was hit by a devastating tornado.

Led by four seniors that each boasted a perfect 4.0 GPA, the Lady Devilettes played on. They displayed their strength and rallied an entire community with a run to state.

Lebanon went 31-6 this season, finishing with 14 straight wins in the midst of all that tragedy. They beat Beech for the Region Championship, then Page in the sectional and topped defending state champion Bradley Central 51-42 in the quarterfinals in Murfreesboro.

And then, as if they hadn't been through enough, the state tournament was called off because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

They faced death and destruction and came out on top, and they will fight through even more adversity. To the Lebanon girls basketball team, keep your heads held high and enjoy this Curtain Call.

Brighter days are ahead and you’ve inspired all of us.
