NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Gymnastics gets the most attention when the Olympics come around, so 2020 was poised to be an exciting year for many young gymnasts. This Curtain Call highlights the group of girls at the Clarksville Elite Gymnastics Center.
Many of the young ladies competed at state in 2019, with more than a handful capturing titles in their respective events. Larry Corrigan's group was poised to do big things again this year with the State Tournament approaching later in the spring.
Yet when the devastating March 3rd tornadoes wiped out another local gym, displacing the Magnitude 10.0 team, CEGC rallied together to try to help another group of gymnasts land back on their feet.
They held a t-shirt sale with the proceeds going to help Magnitude 10.0 get back up and running while their gym is being rebuilt. Unfortunately, for both teams the season was called in March because of the spread of the Coronavirus. Neither team would have the chance to win titles at state.
But the camaraderie of the gymnasts at CEGC and Magnitude 10.0 shows us that some things in life are more important than a perfect score. To all the gymnasts out there -- stand tall, stay together and keep sticking those landings.
