BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (WTVF) — Having your season cut short at any time is difficult for a high school athlete. But for some teams, like Brentwood Girls Lacrosse, the season was only just beginning when it ended.

The spread of the Coronavirus canceled nearly all of the lacrosse season this year in Tennessee, along with all other spring sports. And what could have been for Brentwood Lady Lax is the subject of this Curtain Call.

The Bruins were state runner-up in 2019 and began this season as Tennessee’s top-ranked public school. They got off to an impressive 3-0 start, including a 24-2 beatdown of a team from Wisconsin in their final game.

Kelly Benward’s squad had eight seniors including her daughter Jade and seven others. They are Mary Claire Armstead, Olivia DiGiacomo, Mattie Hargis, Lila Horesh, Rachel Miller, Sarah Miller and Lindsay Scold. Together that group had been together playing since the sixth grade.

This was supposed to be their year. Number one in the state and unbeaten still to this day.

Ladies hold on to that as you take the senior Curtain Call you deserve.
