CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Austin Peay Women's Track & Field team was off to its best start in nearly two decades, and was poised to do big things when the NCAA made the call to cancel all spring sports due to the spread of COVID-19.
The Govs took home the OVC Indoor Championship for the first time since 2001 in late February.
Freshman sprinter Kenisha Phillips set the school record in the 200 meters, Karlijn Schouten won Peay's fourth straight Pole Vault title, and Maya Perry-Grimes won gold in long jump and triple jump to help seal the title for first year coach Valerie Brown.
The year may have been cut short, but it was still a championship season for Austin Peay.
We salute the 2020 OVC Track & Field champions with this Curtain Call.
