Vanderbilt has hired Stephanie White of the WNBA's Indiana Fever as its women's basketball coach.
The university announced the hiring Tuesday, and White will be introduced at a news conference Wednesday. The hiring comes a month after Melanie Balcomb resigned after 14 seasons.
White said in a statement the chance to coach Vanderbilt was an opportunity she couldn't pass up. She will stay with the Fever through the end of the WNBA season after telling Indiana officials she wanted to pursue a college job.
Last year, White became the first rookie coach to take her team to the WNBA Finals, where the Fever lost to Minnesota.
