NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Department of Education's COVID-19 dashboard is officially live online.
Commissioner Penny Schwinn announced the tool during Gov. Lee's press briefing last week, saying the department "determined the best path that balances informed decision making with our obligation to student privacy."
It was supposed to launch Tuesday morning, but state officials said it was delayed due to a series of technical problems.
The dashboard displays the number of positive COVID-19 cases in students and staff within each district. It also shows the operating models for each school within those districts.
The information can be found two ways on the dashboard: by selecting a district on a map or by selecting a district through a drop-down button.
Information from schools with fewer than 50 students enrolled is not reported, and schools with less than five positive COVID-19 cases are not reporting a specific number.
The dashboard will be updated every Friday; so if a school district's the latest information on the dashboard, don't worry officials say it will by the end of each week.
