Tennessee high school football returns; what you need to know

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Teams from across the state will head out onto the field Friday night as high school football returns.

As expected, a lot of things will be different tonight based on guidance from the TSSAA. The association has told schools that they must limit capacity in the stands to a third.

When you get to the games this year, you must answer screening questions, get a temperature check at the gate and wear a face covering.

Some districts also have their own rules. For example, Williamson County School teams will only compete with teams that are following the same player and coach COVID-19 screening process.

Additionally, Williamson County is only allowing the home bands, and depending on the space available for social distancing, they may have to play in shifts during the game.

For concessions, everything will come prepackaged, and servers will be behind plexiglass. There will also be stickers on the ground to remind you to social distance from the next person in line.

Even though everyone won’t be able to see the game in person this year, some schools will have a live stream so fans can watch from home.

Rutherford County kicked off their season Thursday night, with La Vergne High School winning over Rockvale.
