22,431 new unemployment claims filed in Tennessee the week of July 11

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — More than 22,000 Tennesseans filed for unemployment last week.

The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development said 22,431 new claims were filed during the week ending on June 11 – down 3,412 new claims from the week prior.

The department said the number of continued claims in Tennessee is down slightly at 251,924. The department also provided the following data:

Nationwide, this is the second week in a row that the U.S. Department of Labor has said about 1.3 million Americans have filed for unemployment benefits for the first time. The week ending on July 11 only saw a decrease of 10,000 claims from the previous week’s levels.
