NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Nashville has long been a major destination for refugees, defined as people approved by the United States government to move into America to escape persecution in their home countries. When displaced people flee their countries, they arrive to an uncertain future - with few belongs and no home. Over the past 14 years, the Nashville International Center for Empowerment, or NICE has helped over twenty eight thousand refugees and immigrants who have come to the Nashville area, adjust to a whole new way of life. Here to tell us more about the program is the President and CEO of NICE - Dr. Gatluak Thach and Emma Chinn, who’s the organization’s Development Outreach Manager.
