Patsy Montesinos

Patsy Montesinos joined NewsChannel 5 as a multimedia journalist in December 2024.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Patsy has also lived in Chicago, Washington, and Mexico. At just 15 years old, she made the courageous decision to leave her family in Mexico and return to the United States—her dream was to become a reporter.

Patsy began her career at WDBJ7 in Roanoke, VA, where she served as the weekend evening anchor. Leveraging her community connections, she uncovered important stories about gun violence victims and produced the station's first-ever Hispanic Heritage Month special, which highlighted both disparities and the rich culture of the area.

One of her most notable stories involved her coverage of a murder-suicide involving two high school students. Following her reporting, the school initiated an independent investigation that identified Title IX violations and failures. As a result, a plan was implemented to better support students and prevent similar tragedies in the future.

While in Roanoke, Patsy was honored to receive the 2023 Adam and Alison Award for Media Excellence, recognizing her commitment to fair and accurate reporting.

During her time at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Patsy played a crucial role in launching Chatham County’s first-ever Spanish-language newspaper, La Voz de Chatham. She also produced, anchored, and reported for both English and Spanish student-led newscasts and worked as a media production assistant for the UNC women's soccer team.

In her spare time, Patsy enjoys hiking, dancing, photography, traveling, and discovering the best local taco spots.

Now settled in Music City, Patsy is eager to meet the community and tell your stories. You can reach her at Patsy.Montesinos@newschannel5.com.
