A man who reportedly shot and killed his wife in the Edgehill area has been charged.

Officials said 45-year-old Cleveland Lamont Bell was charged with criminal homicide for fatally shooting 42-year-old Tonya Davis.

The shooting happened before 9:45 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Southside Court inside the couple’s home.

Officers were called to the scene after a friend who was with Bell reported there’d been a shooting and that he was driving him back to the scene.

They said Davis was found in the front entryway with a gunshot wound to her head.

Authorities said Bell surrendered to officers when he arrived and admitted to detectives he shot Davis during a heated argument.

Bell was being held without bond pending a hearing.
