NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A woman was killed in a crash on I-440 West at the I-40 Interchange Friday evening.

According to Metro police, preliminary investigation shows that 41-year-old Chanera Blackwell was traveling in the right lane of I-440 West when a driver in the left lane - 36-year-old Reed Reish - tried to move over to the right lane.

Reish saw Blackwell's vehicle next to him, so he moved back over to his lane. While the two vehicles didn't strike each other, Blackwell fishtailed and left the roadway, colliding into a rock wall and a guardrail.

Blackwell was not wearing a seat belt. She sustained injuries, and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she died.

Reish reported that he did not see Blackwell's vehicle in the right lane when he first started to merge over.

Police say there was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement. No charges have been placed.
