NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Wilson County Schools has announced it will offer both virtual and in-person options for students when they return to class in early August.
The district said it will move ahead with a "traditional" plan for back to school, but it will have many safety modifications.
Students will have their temperature checked before entering the school, they'll be checked for COVID-19 symptoms, and students will also be taught about symptoms during the first week of school.
The district said in a release to parents that plans are in the works to reduce crowds during certain times of the day, like when students change class periods and when they eat lunch.
The district will also require teachers and school staff to wear face masks if they need to be within six feet of students. Face coverings will not be required for students, but they will be required if a student rides the school bus.
While district officials are concentrating on bringing back students to the classroom, they are also offering a virtual option to all students.
Wilson County Schools said parents can enroll their students in the virtual option starting Wednesday, July 8th through the Skyward portal. The deadline is Friday, July 17th.
Wilson County Schools said changes could be made to these plans if there are significant changes in terms of public health and COVID-19.
