Many are wondering if the Alabama pipeline explosion will impact gas availability in the mid-state.
That pipeline is operated by Colonial Pipeline, the same company behind a massive gas leak in the same area in September that caused gas shortages across the South.
There's still no word on how the explosion will impact the availability of gas in surrounding areas including middle Tennessee, but the Tennessee Fuel and Convenience Store Association says we can avoid long gas pump lines if people simply fill up their fuel tanks when they need to.
“If people would just stay with their normal buying patterns then we can get through this with our contingency plan with no problem,” said Emily Leroy.
Colonial Pipeline has released a short statement saying their top priorities are the health and safety of the work crews and the protection of the public.
The company did not say how the explosion may affect the availability of fuel.
