The wife of former Metro Police Sergeant Rob Forrest has filed for divorce, according to legal documents.
The documents stated Penny Forrest filed for divorce Friday citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct.
At the end of January, Mayor Megan Barry publicly admitted to an affair with Forrest, the sergeant assigned as her bodyguard.
Also at that time, Forrest retired after 31 years with the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Saturday, Rob Forrest's attorney released the following statement regarding the divorce filing:
Mr. Forrest is aware he will shortly be served with divorce papers. He deeply regrets that his conduct will cost him his marriage. Given the intensely personal nature of a divorce, Mr. Forrest asks for privacy for his family at this difficult time. Mr. Forrest and I will have no further statement.
Multiple investigations have gotten underway since the affair was made public, including by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Metro City Council, to determine if any funds were misused in regards to the affair.
