NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Authorities said a rollover accident in Davidson County has turned fatal.
The crash happened around 3:18 p.m. Wednesday at the entrance ramp from Harding Place to Interstate 24.
According to reports, the wreck involved an overturned tanker truck carrying used motor oil.
The driver of the truck, identified as 24-year-old Andrew Harbin, was killed, according to police.
Officials said Harbin had been traveling east on the interstate when he entered the exit ramp and failed to slow down.
That's when the tanker left the roadway, crossing all lanes of Harding Place, and hit a tree before rolling down an embankment into a motel parking lot.
Harding Place was closed to southbound traffic. All drivers were being diverted to alternate routes. Northbound traffic slowly began moving again just after 4 p.m.
Metro police said Interstate 24 was not affected. Crews said Harding Place was cleared around 7:20 p.m.
Authorities said there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol.
