President Donald Trump has endorsed Rep. Marsha Blackburn for U.S. Senate.
In a Tweet Thursday, Trump said that Blackburn “is a wonderful woman who has always been there when we have needed her.” The President also said he would campaign with her.
.@MarshaBlackburn is a wonderful woman who has always been there when we have needed her. Great on the Military, Border Security and Crime. Loves and works hard for the people of Tennessee. She has my full endorsement and I will be there to campaign with her!

Blackburn is running against Former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen to fill Bob Corker’s U.S. Senate seat.
Following President Trump's endorsement, the Blackburn campaign released the following statement:
"I thank President Trump for both his support and leadership. I am grateful for this endorsement. Tennesseans from all walks of life support the President's work to cut taxes, rebuild the military, care for our veterans, and nominate conservative judges who won’t legislate from the bench. They expect Tennessee's next Senator to work alongside the President and their Senate colleagues to pass his agenda, and I'm looking forward to doing exactly that."
Earlier this month, Middle Tennessee State University released a poll showing that Bredesen holds a double-digit lead over Blackburn.
