NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Tennessee Titans' held their home opener on Sunday afternoon, but COVID-19 restrictions kept fans out of Nissan Stadium.

Fans said the atmosphere outside of Nissan Stadium was eerie in the minutes before kickoff because there were no tailgates and no lines. But some fans said even though they couldn't get inside, they didn't want to miss the experience of being at Nissan Stadium for the Titans home opener.

"It's hard. I want to be in there, I want to be part of the crowd," Titans fan Carrie Cherry said.

Cherry has been a season ticket holder for more than two decades. But instead of watching the Titans play the Jaguars in her usual seat in section 126, she said she watched from her recliner.

"I'm very disappointed," she said.

Other fans opted to experience the game from the Seigenthaler pedestrian bridge, watching the game on the stadium's jumbotron.

"We're going to get to be a part of it as best as we can," one fan said.

"Our hearts are there, our passions there," Tena Coons said. "We'll be back one day and when we are, we'll still be loud and strong."
