One person was killed in a crash on Highway 12 in Cheatham County.
The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday near Neptune Road. Video from the scene shows the crash involved a private vehicle and a truck carrying lumber.

According to a report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 79-year-old Essie Simmons of Ashland City died in the crash.
Simmons was attempting to turn left from a private driveway from Highway 12 when a truck carrying lumber was traveling the north, the opposite direction.
The driver of the truck, 50-year-old Michael Holt, wasn't able to stop in time to avoid Simmons' vehicle and crashed into the Kia Sephia. Both vehicles came to a final stop off of the road along the highway.
