NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — There will be no tuition increase this fall at Tennessee State University, university officials announced today.

TSU had initially proposed a nearly two percent increase in tuition.

In what TSU officials are calling the 'Tiger Tuition Freeze,' they say they realize a tuition increase could cause a burden on students.

"The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic coupled with the current economic downturn would pose an additional hardship for our student population and their families," said TSU President Glenda Glover.

In addition to no tuition increase, TSU announced incoming freshmen this fall will be provided with laptops for their coursework.
