Tennessee small businesses have one month left to certify for COVID-19 relief funds

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Small businesses throughout Tennessee that are eligible have one month left to certify for the state's Business Relief Program. The program is meant to aid businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

More than 40,000 small businesses across 60 business types are eligible for the program. Businesses are asked to check their eligibility.

The Department of Revenue has already sent letters and emails to many businesses to let them know they may be be eligible; however, before the federal funds can be issued, the Department of Revenue says they need business owners to verify certain information. Businesses must verify the required information by September 25.

$128 million has already been distributed to around 17,000 businesses, according to the Department of Revenue.

Relief payments to small businesses range from $2,500 to $30,000, based on the gross sales of the business.
