TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Authorities across Tennessee are asking the public for help finding Jacob Allen Morley, a 28-year-old inmate serving a life sentence for first-degree murder who escaped from the Northwest Correctional Complex in Tiptonville.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation added Morley to its Most Wanted list and said he should be considered armed and dangerous. The agency announced a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to his arrest. Anyone who spots Morley should not approach him and should instead call 911 or 1-800-TBI-FIND.

The Tennessee Department of Correction is asking neighbors in the area of the Northwest Correctional Complex to check home security and doorbell cameras, along with trail and hunting cameras and other surveillance systems, for possible sightings or activity.

TDOC said it and other law enforcement agencies have searched and cleared buildings and structures in the surrounding area. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has deployed aviation assets and state troopers to assist with the search.

The Tennessee Department of Correction said Morley escaped from the facility late at night on Oct. 25, 2026. Staff confirmed he was unaccounted for at approximately 11:30 p.m. and immediately conducted an emergency count and search of the facility.

Security camera footage confirmed Morley breached the perimeter fence and left the facility wearing his TDOC uniform.

Morley is serving a life sentence for convictions in Carter County that include first-degree murder, aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence, evading arrest, and vandalism.

He is described as 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 240 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes.

The Northwest Correctional Complex is located in Tiptonville in northwest Tennessee.

The Tennessee Department of Correction said it is working closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to apprehend Morley.
