HILHAM, Tenn. (WTVF) — Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are looking into an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Overton County.

Overton and Jackson County Sheriffs’ deputies responded to a domestic incident on Allens Chapel Road in Hilham Thursday morning around 7:45.

When they got there, they found 35-year-old Casey Looper in a vehicle. They say Looper then hit a Jackson County deputy, who was on foot, with his vehicle.

That's when an Overton County deputy shot at Looper’s vehicle, but Looper continued to drive away since he wasn't hit.

Police then chased him until two Overton County deputies fired shots that disabled Looper's vehicle. He was subsequently taken into custody.

The Jackson County deputy who was hit by the car was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
