NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with last week's stabbing outside a Nashville bar.
According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville police, 35-year-old David Wesley Mingee has been charged with attempted criminal homicide in connection with the stabbing, which happened around midnight on Feb. 5 at the corner of Broadway and 3rd Avenue South.
Police said Mingee and the victim had a “verbal altercation” near the front steps of the bar. Investigators said Mingee left, but later came back and got out of a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.
He’s accused of stabbing the victim in the neck, hand and face.
Police released surveillance photos of the suspect and said MNPD cameras showed the white Chevrolet Silverado's license plate, which appeared to be an Ohio tag.
A tip to Crime Stoppers led police to investigate a “suspicious person” call involving the pickup truck. About an hour and a half before the stabbing, investigators said a caller reported that someone was beating on their door. Police said that caller was from Springfield, Ohio.
Detectives then sent the video surveillance to the Springfield Police Department in Ohio, and they identified Mingee as the suspect. Metro police said they also received a mug shot of Mingee from Springfield, Ohio, which they said "clearly" identified him. The victim, an Indiana man, also identified Mingee as the suspect.
Mingee was booked into the Metro jail on Thursday night and is being held on a $350,000 bond.
