NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Students gathered at the state capitol to ask new Tennessee Governor Bill Lee to remove the bust of Nathan Bedford Forrest from the building.
Forrest was a Confederate General during the Civil war, a slave trader and an early KKK leader.
The students came from Middle Tennessee colleges and delivered letters with their request to the Governor.
Troopers blocked the entrance to his office, and told students the Governor had no appointments available; so instead, they met with a representative from his office.
