NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — An Arctic blast brought bitterly cold temperatures to Middle Tennessee and left ice on some bridges and roadways.
The brutal blast of cold air will be the biggest impact for us. What started as a cold rain late Monday transitioned to a brief wintry mix of rain, sleet.
Nashville measured .4'' of snow overnight. This is only the 7th time that measurable snow has occurred on or before November 11 in Nashville.
The last time we measured snow this early was November 10, 1996. With 135 years of snow records, this occurs on average of once every 19.3 years.
The other big part of this story is the bitter wind chill values Tuesday morning. The wind will howl which will help to dry out roads, but will also take wind chill values down into the single digits for some Tuesday morning.
Temperatures will stay below freezing for 36 straight hours, not warming until late Wednesday afternoon.
