and last updated

Students at West End Middle School are learning American Sign Language (ASL) in hopes of having more communication with their deaf or hard of hearing classmates.

The ASL class isn't focused solely on the two legally deaf students, rather, students of all abilities have joined in on tackling the skill.

The joint effort throughout the school has helped both deaf or hard of hearing students students be just as involved as any other middle school student.

One of them is able to play football with the help of his coaches and interpreter and the other is a cheer leader.
