Thanks to Metro's Opportunity Now initiative, students have been given the chance to find paying jobs over the summer.
Three students who selected the Nashville Public Library allowed NewsChannel 5 to follow them while at work at the Bellevue branch.
All three students said they've learned things they might not have if they worked in another field, such as how to interact with all age groups, how to pay attention to detail and how to encourage visitors to perhaps consider different genres to read.
The three were also glad to be able to be paid for their work, but said, overall, they were just pleased to be connected to the library.
