Man With Shotgun Fatally Shot By Memphis Officer

Police in Memphis said a man with a mental condition who pointed a shotgun at a police officer has been fatally shot by the officer.

Memphis Police Department spokesman Louis Brownlee said officers were called to a home Wednesday night. Officers began speaking with the 30-year-old man, but he did not comply with orders from police.

Brownlee said the man pointed a shotgun at an officer, who then shot the man.

Brownlee said the man had a mental condition but did not release further details.

The man died at a hospital. His name has not been released. Brownlee said both the man and the officer were black. The officer's name has not been released.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has been investigating.
