It's not often you see an 11-year-old entrepreneur, but Kierra Perkins is using her creativity as a summer job. So far, she's sold a good amount of candles in just one month.

"A lot. Like 92 or 98," said Kierra Perkins, founder of Kandles by Kierra.

Perkins said the business idea came after making candles for her dad and grandfather on Father's Day.

"They were really surprised. They thought they were real cookies for a second. They were like, 'Why is it not moving?' Because they saw the milk, and they saw the wick and were like, 'Oh, it's a candle,'" said Perkins.

There are four different candles in her collection.

"This one is my favorite, it's strawberry blast shake. It smells like strawberries," said said.

There's also green apple margarita, cinnamon swirl cappuccino, and the family favorite...

"Chocolate chip cookie and milk smells like cookies. It really does. It smells delicious," said Perkins.

Perkins said in a day she can make about 24 candles, and they are all made to order.

"I get comments from people who burn my candles. They say if they left the room and come back, they smell it, and they said it's really strong. They also say they smell it before they even open the bag," said Perkins.

If you're interested in a candle, it'll cost you $10. As we Celebrate Tennessee, this 11-year-old is spreading light with her Kandles by Kierra.

To purchase a candle, you can contact Kierra's mother, Michelle Perkins, at 615-438-7773.
