NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Memorial Day is when we remember those who sacrificed so much for our country. Those who were killed in the line of duty so that we can have our freedoms.

"My brother was a fallen soldier so today is special to me," said United States Army Sargent Johnny Bennett, "in fact I'm wearing his purple heart and Vietnam ribbon to honor him."

At Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, the community took a moment to remember our fallen soldiers. Every Friday on Memorial Day weekend they raise the flags all weekend long. They also hold a ceremony that includes a moment of silence and guest speakers.

"We have a lot of veterans laid to rest," said Tara Bessling, general manager of Spring Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery, "this is sacred grounds for us and the community."

One by one attendees cheered and clapped for veterans in the audience as well.
