GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — There's a lot going on at Goodlettsville Elementary School. Besides the students working on writing and arithmetic, there's quite a bit of reading going on as well.

Local adults, volunteer to take at least 30 minutes out of one day a week, to stop by and read to the children. The program is now in it's 25th year, and the volunteers love it as much as the students do.

Literacy, student achievement and positive behavior are just a few of the results that happen when children are read to. And the volunteers say, it gives them a sense of purpose knowing that the students are learning, and appreciating those adults who take their time to stop by.
