MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Rutherford County School officials announced that all schools will reopen traditionally, giving parents the option of in-person or virtual learning as students return amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Whichever they decide, students will have to commit to a semester of the option they choose.
For those choosing to be in the classroom, students will return August 10. However, the board says it is considering phase-in days during the first week of school to allow students to adjust to the new health guidelines and to allow school personnel to make adjustments.
As of now, masks are not required, but the board says it plans to discuss a possible requirement in its July 21 meeting.
District officials said in a press release Director of Schools Bill Spurlock and his staff are expected to "fine-tune the details and logistics of the plan and parents will be kept informed for planning purposes."
