JOELTON, Tenn. (WTVF) — Routine pipeline maintenance has been scheduled by Piedmont Natural Gas for Joelton.

The maintenance work will take place near 7056 Old Hickory Blvd. Outside of weather that may impact the project's timetable, the work is expected to happen from May 1 through May 8.

According to Piedmont, the work will include the use of a flare stack, which could produce a loud noise and result in a tall flame being visible to nearby neighborhoods and businesses. There may also be a noticeable whistling sound or the smell of natural gas.

Piedmont says flare stack operation is a controlled process, and that the scheduled maintenance will be managed and monitored by Piedmont personnel in cooperation with the local fire department services.

Piedmont also says the reason for the maintenance is because it is key to ensuring their natural gas service remains safe.
