NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Protesters gathered outside a Metro Police precinct on Korean Veterans Boulevard Saturday afternoon calling for more accountability and transparency from Chief John Drake.

Activists demanded justice for Markquett Martin. The 21-year-old died on Wednesday in South Nashville as he was being chased by officers. Investigators said Martin died from a "self-inflicted gunshot" which they said was "probably accidental."

But protesters said they're upset over a lack of video evidence to show what exactly happened.

"The family just needs closure. They need answers and the answer that we're looking for is not he shot himself. If they have no bodycam footage how can we know for sure what happened," said Angel Stansberry with The People's Plaza.

The crowd also protested the recent officer-involved shooting of robbery suspect Lamon Witherspoon and the handling of the Nashville Christmas Day bombing.
