The incident was reported before 8 a.m. Wednesday, after a bomb sniffing dog hit on a suspicious package. A backpack had apparently been left unattended, which prompted the response.
The airport's bomb squad responded in an abundance of caution. About an hour later, an all-clear was given.
Long line here at BNA heading towards the terminal. My best guess would be that they’re not letting anyone drop off right now and drivers aren’t sure what to do. @NC5pic.twitter.com/k3962iRErE

The incident caused significant delays for travelers headed to the airport, backing up traffic all the way to the interstate.
The off-ramps from Interstate 40 at the airport exit and Donleson Pike were briefly closed while the investigation continued.
