An investigation got underway after a pipe bomb was found in a trash can at a Kentucky gas station.
Kentucky State Police responded to a Pilot truck stop in Pendleton on Sunday after an employee found the device.
The store was evacuated and the perimeter of the building was secured.
The device was deemed safe around 5:30 p.m. and the store later reopened.
KSP opened a case for “Use of Weapon of Mass Destruction” which is a Class C Felony. The investigation remained ongoing. No suspects have been identified.
