GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — One person was shot during an attempted robbery outside a Goodlettsville bank.

Goodlettsville Police say the robbery took place around 3:47 p.m. Wednesday at Volunteer State Bank.

A man was walking from his car to the bank when another man jumped out of a vehicle and tried to take his deposit.

Police officials say the victim refused to give him the money, and the suspect responded by shooting the man multiple times. Officials say the man is in critical condition, but they have not released the person's identity.

The suspect jumped back into the vehicle - which had multiple people inside - and got away. The vehicle is a stolen 2018 or 2019 white Nissan Maxima with TN tag 2K0-9W5.

The suspect was described as a man wearing a red hoodie and a mask.

Late Wednesday, Goodlettsville Police released surveillance photos showing the culprit running from the vehicle.

Anyone with information on this subject are asked to contact Detective Stephen Hodges at 615-210-7242, or Detective Les Carlisle at 615-202-0934.

Editor's note: An earlier version of the story was published in which police said the shooting happened during a bank robbery, but police officials later clarified the shooting happened during a robbery outside the bank.
