FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — Working from home with kids running around can be tough on parents which is why some families have turned to virtual babysitters for help.

For Meagan Smith, she has a baby, a 3-year-old, and a 5-year-old. Meagan and her husband both work from home due to COVID-19.

“It is loud and busy, but at least there’s a mute button on most of the calls; so it’s a little wild, we’re all in this together, it’s okay," said Smith.

Smith said when her children Hoover and Craft aren’t at preschool, they’ve used a virtual babysitter to help entertain the little ones.

“And the other days we just kind of ping pong it at home. When my husband has a call, I’m on kid duty. If I have a call, he’s on kid duty, but sometimes we have calls at the same time, so it’s nice to have some extra help.”

Meagan said her children enjoyed making superhero bracelets with the help of a babysitter through SitterStream.

“She was very interactive, even when they got stuck, and couldn't figure out the next step," she explained.

Meagan and the virtual babysitter picked the activity beforehand, so the supplies were ready-to-go.

“You can do whatever you know will keep your kids entertained...We’re kind of living minute by minute these days.”

Families are doing their best to find safe childcare to make it through these crazy times.
