It has become a common practice for many people to offer their homes to strangers evacuating a disaster through social media.
It is no different in Nashville as Facebook posts pop up with the kind offer since Hurricane Harvey and the fast approaching Hurricane Irma.
"It's all about being a good neighbor," Nick Gresock, owner of bnbwithme, told NewsChannel 5.
The site, bnbwithme, is a short term rental management company in Nashville that started last year. Currently, the company has 20 properties with almost ten owners.
Gresock said some of the homeowners reached out to him and wanted to offer their short term rental properties for free to people evacuating Hurricane Irma.
One of them said she had friends who experienced Hurricane Katrina and the devastation it left behind.
"This is a great opportunity to invite people that need a place to stay. We want to do whatever we can because we have the opportunity to do it. Let's open them up and get these people in here," Gresock said.
Gresock encourages others with properties listed under companies like AirBnb to do the same thing. He said it is the perfect opportunity to prove their mission of being a good neighbor.
Gresock said all that is required is a cleaning fee.
Pets are not allowed as part of a safety precaution.
