NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Volunteer organizers in Mount Juliet have offered a list of helpful items to keep with you if you're volunteering with tornado cleanup, following Tuesday's tornadoes.

The following list of items is meant to help you keep safe while dealing with potentially dangerous materials.

  • Work boots
  • Gloves
  • Safety glasses
  • Trash bags
  • Ear protection

This list of items was originally sent to volunteers in Mount Juliet for Friday and Saturday, which have been designated as Mount Juliet Strong Community weekend. The response to that particular effort was so strong, organizers didn't have room for any more volunteers. For their specific cleanup efforts, they've also invited volunteers to bring wheelbarrows, chainsaws and shovels.

Another tip they've offered is to carpool to your volunteer location, if there are a lot of emergency personnel in the area. Keeping the area free of too many vehicles will give those crews the space they need to move efficiently.
