NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A suspect is in custody after a deadly shooting Saturday night.

Police responded to the scene around 7:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Rep. John Lewis Way South near the Greyhound bus station.

Reed Marshall Jr., 44, has been charged with criminal homicide and drug charges, unrelated to Saturday's shooting.

Officials say that Sedrick Yarbrough, 43, was walking on the sidewalk of Ash Street near John Lewis Way when Marshall rode an electric scooter onto the same sidewalk.

Marshall got off the scooter, 15 yards away from Yarbrough and the two began arguing.

Marshall pulled out a handgun and fired at least twice at Yarbrough, who did not appear to be struck. Police report that Marshall then sprinted toward Yarbrough, shooting several more times.

Yarbrough was transported from the scene to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he later died from at least two gunshot wounds.

Witnesses at the scene helped officials identify Marshall, who had fled on a scooter.

Marshall was taken into custody Sunday morning near his home on D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard.

At the time of his arrest, officers found marijuana, a digital
scale with a white powder residue and several hundred dollars in cash on Marshall.

He is being held on a $151,000 bond.
